Who am I?
Most of us know this movie of Jackie Chan. The character who forgets his identity and struggles to know-self was the story line. My intention is not to focus on the movie but to high light a question 'Who am I?'
The question may seem simple; but the answer is hidden in our future. The true identity of our self is realized at the end of the life. We may define the answer from time to time but we always define a short term vision. There are very few who know the final destination and move towards it.
Our life starts as a free soul who enjoys love and affection from everyone at child hood. In the school we get to know great personalities who achieved excellence in the field of science, art. As we live in material world it's all fine to get the knowledge to earn our bread-butter. Shree Ramkrishna used to call it a bread winning education. The important thing is that we never introduced to the above question or how to find our purpose of life. I really feel; even though the question is disturbing and may cause storm in mind; we should be taught to realize the answer by preserving sense of present.
It will be simple to believe that just keep enjoying the present and keep learning from day to day life; the God will reveal the purpose when time comes. May be he is always testing the patience within us. Why the few soul get bother by the question while other just move-on practically.
If I would have been present in the times of Narendra[Swami Vivekananda] ; would have definitely got the answer whether his mind was restless until he realized the purpose of life. Even after realizing the purpose mind will keep wondering for path to follow to achieve the goal.
I do think many a times that restless mind is necessary until you set the goal; then what you need is the patience and only patience to realize the goal. I am trying to find out an answer to a question why creative activities like painting, poetry, writing, music, singing etc are necessary. My view is that when we do creative activity which our mind is mad about it becomes thought less; so I feel it is similar to doing meditation.
It is always said that flowing water is pure. This can be applied to human life; monks might be wondering to remain afresh. Focusing mind on various creative activities keeps it pure.
Finally one nice quote which I like; its by Galileo “You can not teach a man anything, you can only help him to discover it in himself.”
